  • 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Join us here at the Blackhawk Museum on March 29, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM for the first event in our 2025 Spring Speaker Series, celebrating the rich and untamed history of the American West. Award-winning author, historian, and screenwriter Chris Enss will share her expertise on the fascinating and often overlooked women of the Old West.

With over 30 published books on Western history, Enss has spent decades uncovering the compelling stories of women who played significant roles in shaping the frontier. Her works, including Wicked Women: Notorious, Mischievous, and Wayward Ladies from the Old West, Tombstone Women, and The Pinks: The First Women Detectives, Operatives, and Spies with the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, offer insight into the lives of female outlaws, gamblers, entertainers, and pioneers who defied expectations in a rugged and often unforgiving world.

This presentation will explore themes from her research, bringing to life the stories of women who found themselves at the center of Western history. Whether through tales of survival, rebellion, or resilience, Enss provides a unique perspective on the Spirit of the Old West.

Attendance to the Speaker Series is included with museum admission. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from one of the foremost voices in Western history and storytelling!
